CBD 101: Everything You Need to Know About CBD

Are you new to the world of CBD? Welcome! New CBD users who are just getting the lay of the land may not know all the ins and outs of CBD. That’s why we put together a CBD 101 guide to help set you on the right path. From, “What is CBD?” to “How should I expect to feel on CBD?” we’ll answer all of your “burning” questions so you feel comfortable whenever you’re ready to join the party.

What is CBD?

CBD, short for Cannabidiol, is just one of over 100 naturally occurring active chemical compounds found within the cannabis plant. Discovered in 1940, this chemical compound is derived from hemp, which is a type of the Cannabis sativa species that has traditionally been used for thousands of years to make rope, clothing, textiles, paper, building materials, and even food products like hemp seeds.

What is CBD Used for?

The uses for CBD are seemingly endless! People use CBD for a variety of reasons and potential benefits, some of which may include pain relief or pain management, help managing chronic conditions, relaxation, sleep, mood stabilization, anxiety, energy regulation, and so much more

How Does CBD Work?

We’re glad you asked! Understanding the science behind CBD helps CBD users make more informed decisions about the products they take – this is something we 100% support! CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) by influencing it to help the body naturally produce more endocannabinoids. The ECS helps the body maintain balance by communicating with other biological systems (i.e., stress response system, appetite, mood, energy, metabolism, skin, etc.) and helping regulate them.

Will CBD Get Me High?

No, CBD alone will not get you high as it is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid. Other products, however, such as THC, Delta-9, Delta-8, and certain forms of hemp may have psychoactive effects that could result in feeling high.

What are the Different Types of CBD?

There are so many ways to take CBD. Black Tie CBD sells CBD products in the form of Smokables (i.e hemp flowers, CBD concentrates, CBD pre-rolls), CBD Edibles, CBD supplements, CBD Tinctures (oils), CBD Teas & Coffees, CBD Topicals, and even CBD for pets!

What Should I Look for in a CBD Product?

No matter where you get your CBD, you should always make sure that the product(s)are accompanied by a 3rd Party Lab Analysis, and produced in manufacturing facilities that are ideally located in the United States. Consider purchasing CBD only from retailers that make their lab results public and prioritize quality in every product.

How Much CBD Should I Take?

The right dose of CBD for you will depend on a variety of factors, including your symptoms, your goals, and your individual body’s chemical makeup (including your endocannabinoid system). The recommended dosages for CBD vary greatly. If you are inexperienced with taking CBD, we advise speaking with a healthcare professional prior to use.

What is the Difference Between Full-Spectrum and Broad-Spectrum CBD?

Full-spectrum CBD products contain multiple cannabis plant extracts, including terpenes and up to 0.3% of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Broad-spectrum CBD products may also contain multiple naturally-occurring compounds derived from the cannabis plant but do not include THC. Broad Spectrum items are THC-Free.
