Will Delta-8 THC Show Up on a Drug Test?

One of the many questions Delta-8 newbies ask is, “Will Delta-8 THC show up on a drug test?” This is a valid question and one that deserves a bit of explanation. While Delta-8 isn’t necessarily new, in the overall world of cannabis, CBD, and THC in general it is newer than its counterparts. A lot of people aren’t even sure if Delta-8 THC is legal where they live. If you’re one of them, we have some insight from one of our blogs that might help clear it up. Still, depending on your occupation and your individual circumstances, you may be subject to drug testing. Here’s what you need to know if you’re concerned about Delta-8 THC showing up on a drug test.

What to Know About Delta-8 THC

Delta-8 THC is known by many as Diet Delta-9 or Delta-9 Lite for the less potent, milder effects it has when compared to its counterpart. Delta-8 THC comes in many forms, including edibles, Delta8 infused hemp flowers, dab sauces, and even Delta-8 tinctures. People enjoy Delta-8 for its relaxing, euphoric effects, and because many say it helps them bypass the paranoia that may come with Delta-9 THC products.

Is Delta-8 THC Legal?

While Delta-8 THC is considered legal on the federal level (because of the fact that it is derived from the hemp plant as opposed to the marijuana plant), it is not legal in all 50 states in the US. This means that there’s still the possibility of facing criminal prosecution if you are found in possession of Delta-8 in certain states. In order for any cannabinoid to be legal, it must be sourced from hemp; that way it can be regulated in the same manner as CBD products that have a THC concentration of up to 0.3%.

Drug Tests and Delta-8 THC

Now that you have some basic information on Delta-8 THC, it’s time to get to the heart of the matter: will Delta-8 show up on a drug test? In other words, will you fail a drug test if you have Delta-8 THC in your system?

The answer is not as definite as you may have hoped because 1) it depends on the type of drug test and 2) it depends how long it’s been since you’ve consumed the Delta-8.

Urine drug tests come in two forms:

  1. The Gas Chromatography- Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) test, which uses gas chromatography and mass spectrometry to deliver accurate results. The downside to using a GC-MS test is that it takes longer to get the results.
  2. The Immunoassay (IA) Test, which is a biomechanical test that checks for macromolecules in a urine sample. While this is quicker, it often yields inaccurate results

There are also hair follicle drug tests, blood tests, and saliva tests that may be used to test for illicit substances.

Unfortunately, Delta-8 THC will show up on urine drug tests in the same way that Delta-9 THC shows up because modern urine tests are not advanced enough to tell the difference between the two.

If you’re taking a blood test, Delta-8 THC may not show up unless you consumed it just a few hours before taking the test. The best way to pass a drug test and have Delta-8 THC not show up is to abstain from using it for at least 30 days. Keep in mind, however, that some drug tests may detect Delta-8 for up to 90 days. While we are certainly proponents of always enjoying high quality Delta-8 THC, we also recognize the importance of staying responsible in the face of a drug test.

Congratulations to Black Tie CBD! Our Blueberry Pie CBD Flower was the Smoking Legal 2020 Winner for their Flower of the Year Award. Watch the full YouTube video here or read our recap below.

Taz is the man behind the YouTube Channel Smoking Legal, which provides 100% honest reviews of cannabis products. His videos are all available free online with the promise that every review will be an honest, unbiased perspective of his experience with the product.

Video Recap: Presenting Black Tie CBD with the Award for Smoking Legal’s 2020 Flower of the Year for Blueberry Pie CBD Flower

The beautifully produced video starts with a brief introduction from Taz. He shows the outside of the Black Tie Dispensary in Birmingham, Alabama and brings the camera crew with him as he walks inside. The dispensary has it all: flower, buds, jars, dabs, blunts, rolling papers, accessories, and so much more.

After ogling at various displays, Taz eventually Taz his way over to a massive jar of the Blueberry Pie CBD Hemp Flower. He opens the jar and is instantly overcome by the aroma. Of the scent, he says, “As soon as you smell it, you’re hit with the blueberry aroma, which is fresh and sweet…and then there’s this true cannabis dank stank [sic].” He offers the jar up to the camera so viewers can get a closer look at the beauty of the flower and makes a joke about how great it would be if there was such a thing as a scratch-and-sniff TV so viewers could experience the smell for themselves.

Taz then announces that it’s because of the exceptional smell and experience he had with the Blueberry Pie CBD Flower that he is awarding Black Tie with the Smoking Legal #1 Strain of 2020. He tried over 50 strains in 2020 and found that Blueberry Pie was “hands down my favorite. I had to look back and realize that this was just my go-to throughout the year.”

No matter which other strains he tried or tasted, he found himself continuously going back to the Black Tie Blueberry Pie CBD Flower. Not only does he appreciate it as a veteran user, but he also feels that it is a great option for people trying CBD for the first time.

The next step: smoking! Taz shows off the Black Tie Premium Rolling Papers and the Black Tie Lighter, which he happily puts inside his bag along with his CBD flower. Now it’s time for the fun. As he smokes the Blueberry Pie CBD Hemp Flower, Taz remarks, “The Blueberry Pie from Black Tie is absolutely premium. I can see why these guys dedicate fifty plus acres specifically to this one strain each harvest. This is why I had to give them the Smoking Legal #1 Flower of 2020.”

In closing the video, Taz says, “From the smell, the taste, the look, the feel of it…everything about it is top of the line.”

The Smoke Doctor’s Delta8 THC Flower Review: Black Tie CBD Exclusive

Not sure if Delta8 THC Flower is right for you? Check out The Smoke Doctor’s honest review on YouTube! The esteemed YouTube and Instagram personality reviews several Black Tie CBD Delta8 THC Flower products to give customers an inside look at what you can expect when using them yourself.

Newbies to smoking Delta8 flower could definitely benefit from the expert advice and testimony of The Smoke Doctor. The content creator regularly reviews cannabis from various companies, which is why Black Tie CBD sent him several strains of our very own Delta8 Infused THC Flower. We wanted to get his take on our products and see what he thought. The results: an outstanding two thumbs up! Read through our recap below or watch the video on YouTube!

Video Recap: Review of Delta8 Flower from Black Tie CBD

The video starts off with The Smoke Doctor introducing the 3 different strains he plans to review: Delta8 Infused Cherry Pie Hemp Flower, Delta8 Infused Blueberry Pie Hemp Flower, and Delta8 Infused Tahoe OG (Indoor) CBD Hemp Flower. He also mentions that he was gifted the Orange Cookies (Indoor) CBD Hemp Flower, but notes that this is not infused with Delta8; it’s rich in CBD (13.83%), but doesn’t contain any Delta8 THC.

After giving viewers a more in-depth depiction of the visuals of each flower and how they can expect to feel, The Smoke Doctor transitions to a closeup of the Cherry Pie bud, which is the only product he tests on-camera. Of this Delta8 Infused flower, The Smoke Doctor says it smells very fruity, almost like Fruity Pebbles cereal, “but a little bit better.” To show its stickiness, he breaks it apart and demonstrates how a piece sticks to his finger for a second or two, exemplifying its “hang time.”

Moving on, it’s time to try the product. The Smoke Doctor has a friend/ assistant off camera roll and light up the blunt and later hand it to him. After he marvels at the beauty of the blunt, he holds it up to the camera and then takes a pull. His immediate reaction is that the taste transfers over. With a few more puffs, he comments on the throat grab.

In total, The Smoke Doctor takes 3 pulls and notes feeling “nice and relaxed.” He says he isn’t totally affected but still feels the impact of the Delta8, which is all that counts. He makes sure to note that the degree to which people will be affected depends entirely on their body composition and their tolerance, and adds that he personally has a rather high tolerance. When he asks his off camera assistant his thoughts, The Smoke Doctor is met with an enthusiastic, “It was good!” He remarks that he feels “super chill.” The final verdict? It’s “legit.”

CBD Oil Vs. CBD Gummies: How to Decide

So you know you want to take CBD but you can’t decide between CBD oil vs. CBD gummies. We get it; This is a common conundrum many people face, especially when they’re new to CBD. Deciding between CBD oil and CBD gummies may feel like choosing between pizza and pasta – they’re both so good! Still, just like with pizza and pasta, both CBD oil and CBD gummies have their own set of benefits. We’ll go through them below so you can have an easier time picking the best option for you the next time you’re faced with this decision. First, however, some background information.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD Oil, sometimes referred to as CBD Tincture, is a popular form of CBD that uses various methods (solvent, steam distillation, CO2 extraction, or cold press) to extract oil from the hemp plant. CBD oils come in full-spectrum and broad-spectrum forms. Full-spectrum CBD oil has all the same ingredients as the hemp plant: cannabidiol, flavonoids, terpenes, and THC. Broad-spectrum CBD oil takes out the THC, although it may still be present in trace amounts.

What are CBD Gummies?

CBD gummies are edible forms of CBD that look like innocent little gummy bear candies but have a fun extra component. Easy to take, convenient, and discreet, CBD gummies come in various shapes, flavors, and sizes. They’re often pretty tasty, which makes the whole experience of taking these CBD edibles even more enjoyable.

Both CBD oil and CBD gummies are designed to provide users with the same benefits, some of which may include help with pain management, anxiety, mood, sleep, stress, relaxation, and many more. Now that you have a baseline understanding of CBD oil and CBD gummies, we can go into more detail on each to help you decide whether CBD oil or CBD gummies are the better option for you.

Bioavailability of CBD Oil Vs. CBD Gummies

The bioavailability of a substance is determined by how much of it is absorbed and used by the body. CBD’s bioavailability varies based on how it is taken, which is part of what makes CBD oil vs. CBD gummies, as well as other forms of CBD like smokables and topicals, so different from one another. CBD oil is administered sublingually (underneath the tongue), giving it a bioavailability range between 13-20%. CBD gummies, on the other hand, tend to have a range of bioavailability rates between 6-20%. This is because it travels through the digestive tract before entering the bloodstream. The digestive process causes the CBD to lose some of its potency, which often delays the CBD’s onset.

Timing with CBD Oil vs. CBD Gummies

Bioavailability also plays into timing with CBD oil vs. CBD gummies, especially as it relates to the onset of the products (i.e., how long they take to kick in). Whereas CBD oil will usually start to take effect within 20 minutes of administration, CBD gummies could take an hour or two. As for how long the effects last, this also varies. The duration of CBD oil is usually between 4-6 hours, whereas the duration of CBD gummies has a broader range between 2-6 hours. Keep in mind that this also depends on the dosage.

Finding the Right Dosage of CBD with Gummies Vs. Oil

Determining the proper dosage of CBD oil can be tricky. It requires using the dropper on the bottle to measure out the dosage, which always introduces room for variability, especially if you have a heavy hand. One of the benefits of taking CBD gummies over CBD oil is that gummies come pre-dosed, taking the guesswork out of the equation. This could be helpful for those who don’t want to be bothered with careful measuring and adjusting.

Lifestyle Choices and CBD Oil vs. CBD Gummies

Your lifestyle choices will have a major impact on how you enjoy CBD. Take into account your age, body weight, metabolism, level of activity, everyday habits, and your schedule. All of these will factor into your experience with CBD and will determine whether it’s better for you to use CBD oil over CBD gummies or vice versa.

The good news is that whether you choose CBD oil or CBD gummies, you can get them both online at Black Tie CBD. Try them both to decide which is right for you. Contact us today to learn more.

Pre-Rolled Hemp Joints 101: What They are & What are the Benefits?

An Introduction to Pre-Rolled Hemp Joints

If you’ve been curious about pre-rolled hemp joints, this one’s for you. Whether you’re new to the world of CBD and hemp or have been around the scene for quite some time, you probably know that there are tons of different ways to enjoy hemp. One of the easiest and most direct ways to get the effects you’re looking for from hemp is with pre-rolled hemp joints. Learn more about what pre-rolls are and why people like them so much here!

What are Pre-Rolled Hemp Joints?

It’s always best to start with the basics, so we’ll go through a quick breakdown of what pre-rolls are before we get into their many benefits. Simply put, pre-rolls are hemp joints that have already been rolled for you! The manufacturer has done all the heavy lifting. Standard pre-rolls usually just contain cannabis, the rolling paper, and a small filter. Other versions may include infusions, like our Delta8 Infused BlueBerry “Blast” Pre-Rolls. Infusions add flavor and sometimes increase potency.

Pre-rolls are strain-specific. The Indica strains tend to be calming and sleep-inducing, making them good for insomnia, pain management, and an overall mellow experience. Sativa strains, on the other hand, are better suited for daytime use because of their energy boosting, motivating effects. They may help spark creativity and can also be used for appetite stimulation. A popular Sativa-dominant pre-roll is our very own Harlequin (Indoor) BLAST. Then there are hybrid pre-rolls, which are a mix of Indica and Sativa. Pre-rolled hemp joints come in various strengths, so finding the one that’s best for you is what will determine your experience.

The Benefits of Pre-Rolls

Hemp users looking for an easy and convenient way to smoke are often major fans of pre-rolled hemp joints.

Equipment-Free Hemp

The first thing to note is that there’s no equipment necessary (except a lighter). This makes setup inherently easy. Plus, there is no preparation needed. Rolling your own hemp joints usually gets messy, with little bits flying everywhere. With pre-rolls, there’s no mess involved; the manufacturer takes care of that for you.

Pre-Rolls are Convenient

Hemp pre-rolled joints are also super convenient and portable. You can bring them with you on the go wherever state laws allow.

Great for Beginners

Additionally, they are an affordable way to smoke hemp, which is particularly useful for beginners who are on the fence about investing in high-quality hemp rolling equipment.

Quality Packaging

DIY methods of rolling hemp joints may sound fun, but there’s always a chance that you’ll lose some of the intensity of the joint. Pre-rolls are packed to preserve the hemp joints’ already high bioavailability. Vaping and smoking hemp products yield the highest bioavailability, which can go as high as 50% and kick in fast. Why would you want to risk diminishing that? High-quality manufacturers know how to hermetically seal them to prevent oxygen exposure, retain moisture levels, and prevent degradation. This way, there’s less of a risk of the pre-rolls losing their potency.

Try pre-rolled hemp joints for yourself when you shop with us at Black Tie CBD. Explore a variety of strains, flavors, and strengths to find the one that is best suited for you. To learn more or for any questions, please feel free to contact us today.
