Where it all began
While the company officially launched in 2018 following the passage of the Farm Bill, the experience behind Black Tie CBD began much earlier. Founder Kyle Colpack developed his cultivation knowledge during California's Prop 215 era, gaining firsthand experience with cannabis genetics, cultivation techniques, phenotype selection, and post-harvest refinement long before hemp-derived cannabinoids entered the mainstream market.

Our Approach
Built by Growers, Not Marketers
The cannabis industry has changed dramatically over the past decade. As demand has grown, so has the number of companies entering the market. Yet many brands operate primarily as marketers and resellers, with limited visibility into how their products were actually cultivated.
Black Tie CBD took a different path. Our roots are in cultivation: we started by growing our own flower in-house, working through the entire process — from genetics and propagation to harvest and curing. Today we source our flower from carefully selected partner farms, and that hands-on cultivation experience guides how we choose those partners and evaluate every batch.
Instead of focusing solely on cannabinoid percentages, we pay close attention to the factors that experienced consumers know matter most: terpene development, trichome density, environmental controls, proper drying conditions, and long-term phenotype stability.
These details may not always appear on a product label, but they often determine whether flower delivers an average experience or an exceptional one.
