The Range of Sativa Flower in This Collection

This collection runs from pure sativa to sativa-dominant hybrids. Phenotype fields here read Pure Sativa or Sativa-Dominant Hybrid, and some sativa-dominant listings add a ratio, such as 60/40 or 80% Sativa / 20% Indica.

The short label beside a product name shows which phenotype collection it belongs to, and the Phenotype field in the product details shows where that cultivar sits on the spectrum.

How to Choose Sativa THCA Flower

When comparing sativa strains, consider more than the sativa designation. Review each cultivar's aroma and flavor profile, cultivation tier, available quantities, and batch-specific Certificate of Analysis. These details provide a clearer picture of the flower you're purchasing and help you select a strain that matches your preferences.

Tier and Phenotype

The tier appears in each product name: Exotic, Indoor, Light Dep / Light Assist, or Greenhouse. The tier reflects the cultivation and quality standards a batch was produced under, while the phenotype describes the cultivar itself, so the two work as separate ways to narrow your search.

Multi-Strain Products

THCA MINIS, THCA Trim/Shake, and THCA pre-rolls also appear in this collection because they're offered in several strains, so check which strain you're selecting. The flower samplers appear here too, since they generally aim to include an indica, a sativa, and a hybrid when inventory allows. Each product page lists the sizes offered for that strain, and select strains are available in larger quantities through Bulk THCA Flower.

Origin of the Name

Where the Name Sativa Comes From

Carl Linnaeus named Cannabis sativa in Species Plantarum in 1753, and sativa is Latin for "cultivated." In today's market, the term usually describes taller, narrow-leaf plants. That association reflects growth habit and naming tradition more than a defined chemical profile.

Nature Plants, 2021

Sativa Labels, Terpenes, and Lab Results

Researchers at Dalhousie University and Wageningen University & Research reported in Nature Plants in 2021 that sativa- and indica-labeled samples could not be told apart by their genetics across the genome. The labels did align with a few specific terpenes: sativa-labeled samples tended to carry more bergamotene and farnesene, while indica-labeled samples leaned toward earthier compounds such as myrcene.

The Batch COA

That makes the batch COA the clearer record of what a specific sativa contains. Reports that include a terpene panel show which compounds lead that batch, and the full archive is on the Lab Results page.

Phenotype ratios and morning or daytime time-of-use fields describe how a cultivar is characterized rather than anything the COA measures, and individual experiences vary.

Three Phenotype Collections

Sativa vs. Indica and Hybrid THCA Flower

Sativa This Collection
Pure sativa to sativa-dominant

Sativa sits alongside two other phenotype collections.

Indica
Indica and indica-leaning

Indica THCA Flower covers indica and indica-leaning cultivars, typically listed for late afternoon, evening, or night.

Hybrid
Balanced hybrids

Hybrid THCA Flower covers balanced hybrids with roughly even indica and sativa character.

The three are ways to browse by how a cultivar is listed rather than a ranking, and no phenotype is inherently better than another. The full THCA Flower collection shows every cultivar in one place.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What are THCA Flowers?

All (THC dominant) Cannabis is naturally high in THCA. THCA is the acidic precursor to THC Delta-9 and naturally forms prior to Delta-9 during the lifecycle of the cannabis plant. THCA also converts to THC Delta-9 through Decarboxylation, or heat.

Do THCA Flowers get you high?

Yes, through the process of decarboxylation, THCA can convert into THC Delta-9, which is psychoactive. Therefore, after undergoing decarboxylation, THCA flowers will produce euphoric effects when combusted (smoked).

What is the difference between Exotic, Indoor, Light Dep, and Greenhouse THCA Flower?

Black Tie carries four distinct production tiers. Exotic is our flagship living-soil flower, featuring extended curing periods and Full Panel testing as the lineup standard. Indoor is cultivated in coco coir under strictly controlled environmental conditions for maximum batch-to-batch consistency. Light Dep (Light Assist) is greenhouse-grown using a precision blend of natural sunlight and controlled light cycles, while Greenhouse flower utilizes natural Pacific Northwest sunlight in hoop-house structures. Each tier offers a unique price point, flavor profile, and verified lab documentation.

What makes Black Tie different from traditional dispensaries and online THCA brands?

Four concrete standards set us apart:

First, we source exclusively from rigorously vetted partner farms in Oregon and California using OMRI-certified organic inputs.

Second, our Exotic tier utilizes living-soil cultivation and slow-curing processes that commercial operations typically skip.

Third, we back our catalog with a 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee—a policy virtually unheard of in the traditional dispensary space.

Finally, every product is backed by a third-party COA linked upfront, with Full Panel testing as the standard for our Exotic lineup. We are also the only hemp company to have placed at a High Times Cannabis Cup competing directly against traditional marijuana brands.

Are Black Tie CBD Products Legal?

Yes. Black Tie CBD products are fully legal under federal law in accordance with the 2018 Farm Bill. Our hemp undergoes compliant pre-harvest post-decarboxylation testing to ensure the psychoactive Delta-9 THC concentration does not exceed the legal 0.3% threshold on a dry weight basis. Furthermore, the DEA confirms that hemp-derived products meeting this standard are not controlled substances, allowing for lawful interstate commerce.

What is a Certificate of Analysis (COA) and how do I read one?

Certificate of Analysis (COA) is an official document issued by an independent, ISO-accredited laboratory confirming a product's cannabinoid potency, Farm Bill compliance, and safety screening results. Every Black Tie product has its specific COA linked directly on the product page before purchase. For our Exotic tier, reports include a full safety panel screening for pesticides, heavy metals, microbial impurities, and a complete terpene breakdown.

What's your shipping policy?

We ship via USPS and UPS, with options from USPS Ground Advantage (2-5 business days) up to UPS Next Day Air Saver, and rates are calculated at checkout. We currently do not ship to California, Idaho, or Texas. Orders process within 6-72 business hours on a first-come, first-served basis, and you'll get tracking by email as soon as yours ships. Orders of $100 or more ship free via USPS Priority Mail (BT VIP), and only Priority Mail Express is delivery-guaranteed. Shipping insurance is optional but highly recommended, and orders of $200 or more ship with signature confirmation.

Every order ships discreetly in unbranded packaging with no invoices inside — just a Thank You card and QR codes linking to our compliance paperwork and each product's Certificate of Analysis. All Black Tie CBD products are federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill and contain less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC, so they ship lawfully.

For full details on shipping see our FAQ page.

If I need to return my order, can I do that?

Yes! We stand behind our quality with a 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee. If you aren't completely happy with your purchase, you can return eligible items within 30 days for a full refund of the product price.

Items must be unopened or minimally used. Original shipping charges and shipping insurance are non-refundable.

Do you offer wholesale?

Yes. Black Tie CBD proudly partners with retailers, dispensaries, and distributors through our wholesale program.

Simply complete our Wholesale Registration Form and provide the following documents:

  • A valid business license and/or seller’s permit
  • IRS Form SS-4 (FEIN letter)
  • Business name, location, and contact information
  • A short description of your business (e.g., retail, spa, dispensary, distributor)

What is Decarboxylation?

Decarboxylation is the chemical reaction that turns THCA into Delta-9 THC. Raw THCA isn't psychoactive on its own, but applying heat — through smoking, vaping, or baking — removes a carboxyl group and converts it into THC, the compound responsible for the "high."

Because THCA weighs more than the THC it becomes, the conversion isn't 1:1. The standard factor is 0.877, so a flower testing at 30% THCA yields roughly 26% THC once decarbed.
