THCA Trim/Shake

Shop THCA Trim/Shake from Black Tie, sugar leaves and smaller flower fragments separated during trimming and processing, sold by strain rather than as a generic mixed blend. Unlike full-sized flower, Trim/Shake consists of smaller material, making it a lower-cost option for rolling joints, packing bowls, or making infused butter and oils at home. Every strain carries its own third-party Certificate of Analysis, linked on the product page before you buy.

What THCA Trim/Shake Actually Is

Trim/Shake is collected during the normal processing of a flower harvest, the sugar leaves and smaller flower fragments that separate during trimming and preparation, along with the trichome-rich material that comes off in the process. Rather than the intact buds sold as full-sized flower, it's this smaller material, still cannabis flower, just not the whole bud.

Because Trim/Shake consists of material separated during the trimming and preparation of flower rather than a separately selected whole-bud format, it is offered at a lower cost per gram than whole flower. The distinction is primarily the format: smaller material at a lower price point than intact whole flower.

Sold by Strain, Not as a Mystery Blend

Trim/Shake is often sold as a mixed or non-specific product, which can make it difficult to know which cultivar is represented. Black Tie sells Trim/Shake by strain instead, so you know which cultivar you're getting and can check that specific batch's Certificate of Analysis before you buy.

The current lineup spans both the Indoor and Light Dep tiers, and rotates with what's coming off recent harvests. Strain-specific availability is shown in the product options above.

How People Actually Use It

Trim/Shake works for two different kinds of use, and most customers lean toward one or the other.

01

Smoking and vaping. Because it's already broken down into smaller pieces, it loads into a joint, blunt, or bowl with less prep than whole flower needs.

02

Homemade infusions. Trim/Shake is a common starting point for cannabutter, infused oils, and other homemade edibles, since the smaller pieces don't carry the price premium of whole bud. Strain options and current batches are available on the THCA Trim/Shake product page.

Trim/Shake vs. THCA MINIS

These two are easy to mix up, since both are a lower-cost way to buy THCA flower. They're not the same product.

MINIS are whole, intact buds that are naturally smaller than standard flower, while Trim/Shake consists of smaller fragments and sugar leaf material separated during trimming. If you want intact flower in a smaller size, MINIS is the category to explore. If you want smaller material suited to rolling or making infusions, Trim/Shake is the more relevant format.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What are THCA Flowers?

All (THC dominant) Cannabis is naturally high in THCA. THCA is the acidic precursor to THC Delta-9 and naturally forms prior to Delta-9 during the lifecycle of the cannabis plant. THCA also converts to THC Delta-9 through Decarboxylation, or heat.

Do THCA Flowers get you high?

Yes, through the process of decarboxylation, THCA can convert into THC Delta-9, which is psychoactive. Therefore, after undergoing decarboxylation, THCA flowers will produce euphoric effects when combusted (smoked).

What is the difference between Exotic, Indoor, Light Dep, and Greenhouse THCA Flower?

Black Tie carries four distinct production tiers. Exotic is our flagship living-soil flower, featuring extended curing periods and Full Panel testing as the lineup standard. Indoor is cultivated in coco coir under strictly controlled environmental conditions for maximum batch-to-batch consistency. Light Dep (Light Assist) is greenhouse-grown using a precision blend of natural sunlight and controlled light cycles, while Greenhouse flower utilizes natural Pacific Northwest sunlight in hoop-house structures. Each tier offers a unique price point, flavor profile, and verified lab documentation.

What makes Black Tie different from traditional dispensaries and online THCA brands?

Four concrete standards set us apart:

First, we source exclusively from rigorously vetted partner farms in Oregon and California using OMRI-certified organic inputs.

Second, our Exotic tier utilizes living-soil cultivation and slow-curing processes that commercial operations typically skip.

Third, we back our catalog with a 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee—a policy virtually unheard of in the traditional dispensary space.

Finally, every product is backed by a third-party COA linked upfront, with Full Panel testing as the standard for our Exotic lineup. We are also the only hemp company to have placed at a High Times Cannabis Cup competing directly against traditional marijuana brands.

Are Black Tie CBD Products Legal?

Yes. Black Tie CBD products are fully legal under federal law in accordance with the 2018 Farm Bill. Our hemp undergoes compliant pre-harvest post-decarboxylation testing to ensure the psychoactive Delta-9 THC concentration does not exceed the legal 0.3% threshold on a dry weight basis. Furthermore, the DEA confirms that hemp-derived products meeting this standard are not controlled substances, allowing for lawful interstate commerce.

What is a Certificate of Analysis (COA) and how do I read one?

Certificate of Analysis (COA) is an official document issued by an independent, ISO-accredited laboratory confirming a product's cannabinoid potency, Farm Bill compliance, and safety screening results. Every Black Tie product has its specific COA linked directly on the product page before purchase. For our Exotic tier, reports include a full safety panel screening for pesticides, heavy metals, microbial impurities, and a complete terpene breakdown.

What's your shipping policy?

We ship via USPS and UPS, with options from USPS Ground Advantage (2-5 business days) up to UPS Next Day Air Saver, and rates are calculated at checkout. We currently do not ship to California, Idaho, or Texas. Orders process within 6-72 business hours on a first-come, first-served basis, and you'll get tracking by email as soon as yours ships. Orders of $100 or more ship free via USPS Priority Mail (BT VIP), and only Priority Mail Express is delivery-guaranteed. Shipping insurance is optional but highly recommended, and orders of $200 or more ship with signature confirmation.

Every order ships discreetly in unbranded packaging with no invoices inside — just a Thank You card and QR codes linking to our compliance paperwork and each product's Certificate of Analysis. All Black Tie CBD products are federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill and contain less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC, so they ship lawfully.

For full details on shipping see our FAQ page.

If I need to return my order, can I do that?

Yes! We stand behind our quality with a 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee. If you aren't completely happy with your purchase, you can return eligible items within 30 days for a full refund of the product price.

Items must be unopened or minimally used. Original shipping charges and shipping insurance are non-refundable.

For full details on returns, see our FAQ page.

Do you offer wholesale?

Yes. Black Tie CBD proudly partners with retailers, dispensaries, and distributors through our wholesale program.

Simply complete our Wholesale Registration Form and provide the following documents:

  • A valid business license and/or seller’s permit
  • IRS Form SS-4 (FEIN letter)
  • Business name, location, and contact information
  • A short description of your business (e.g., retail, spa, dispensary, distributor)

What is Decarboxylation?

Decarboxylation is the chemical reaction that turns THCA into Delta-9 THC. Raw THCA isn't psychoactive on its own, but applying heat — through smoking, vaping, or baking — removes a carboxyl group and converts it into THC, the compound responsible for the "high."

Because THCA weighs more than the THC it becomes, the conversion isn't 1:1. The standard factor is 0.877, so a flower testing at 30% THCA yields roughly 26% THC once decarbed.
